Just a few things to keep in mind when choosing clothes for your portrait session - you can also check out my Pinterest board for inspiration.

  • Logos are distracting, so is writing.
  • Coordinating outfits are great! Exact matching outfits generally don't work. (i.e. same color jeans, with the same shirt for the whole family)
  • Pick clothes that go with your location. (ex. warm, rich colors will match a fall scene, where light colors might be better at the beach or in a field)
  • Pick coordinating colors; use patterns, texture and layers (think jackets, sweaters, scarves) to get a nice "put together" look.
  • Solid white is a no. Unless you're a bride.
  • Sleeves are always recommended, unless you have super sexy arms.
  • Accessories are your friend and they make you feel as pretty as you look!

I recommend picking 2 or 3 colors and letting everyone show their personality with pattern and style.

DO: get creative and show your personality with clothes you feel comfortable and confident in. Fix your hair, or have it styled professionally. Dudes - if you've been given the gift of facial hair, shave it, trim it or whatever it is that makes you look fresh. Oh, and get a hair cut. Ladies - wear something that doesn't show your bra straps, bring some extra lip gloss and take the time to get a manicure!

DON'T: Please please please...don't wear white, large logos/characters or stained, wrinkly clothes.

If you're still not sure, or if I confused you more, send me an email, message or text (include pics if you want!) - I'd love to help!
