Sam & Sammy’s Back Yard Wedding BBQ

One of my favorite reasons to capture weddings is getting to witness love, but sometimes it in the most unexpected places. For example: big, bearded, burly men with diesel mechanic hands who are actually teddy bears, with the power to turn your heart to mush when you witness their love first-hand.

It’s in these tender moments, where I am so very lucky to do what I do.

I met Sam and Sam (and their son, Sam - no joke, real names) on the t-ball field a few years ago. I could tell a couple things right away - they were dedicated to their family and they had a great sense of humor. (Seriously, anyone who volunteers to coach 4 & 5 year old kids has got to like to laugh. If you’ve got a little kid, sign them up this spring. It’s hilarious - you can thank me later.)

Sam & Sammy decided to have a Back Yard BBQ Wedding, pig roast and all. (Yum!) They worked hard to build (then raffle) enough picnic tables to fit their entire guest list, along with a dining table that their guests used wood burning tools to sign a message - a great guestbook idea!
