There’s no right way to get married; no rules saying you have to wear a white sequined dress and have a giant ballroom reception where all of your college friends and distant cousins show up. Fins and Tales Restaurant, Southbridge, MA

The tall ceilings and exposed brick walls at Fins & Tales truly captures the essence of this historic building. The 70 person function room at the restaurant has no rental or planning fee, has a dedicated bar, is available for the whole day, and they will work with you to create the custom menu of your dreams.

I met with Angelique Desforges who has arranged the events at the family-owned restaurant since opening in 2008. She told me her favorite part of the planning process is the final product, when the clients walk in and say “It’s exactly what I wanted.” She dreams of planning an event with lots of beautiful cream and clear balloons with gold glitter, and the romantic ambiance of candle light.

Of course I asked about the food and drinks.

Angelique told me about their house made Sangria that comes in a HUGE Fins & Tales glass and raves about the lamb shank and salmon (which, I am told is loved by those who don’t even like fish at all).
